In that time, in most work places, one is asked to stand the entire time. They are asked to never be still, time to learn time to clean. At any moment in those 8 hours if you're still, you aren't meeting expectations.
Now marathons do include 26.2 miles of running/moving, but does not include lifting heavy items, never resting, and talking endlessly to customers. In a way we are running 5 marathons a week in certain industries and then expected to parent, cook, clean, be socially active, be politically active, have a side hustle, learn a new skill, and advance yourself. It's no wonder burn out hits so hard or addiction is rampant in this work.
All of this running to distract from organizing and existing so we can pay the landlord to have a home we are barely at. This system is exhausting
