I am a senior mechanical engineer with 3 years at my company and a master's degree. My job canned me today for trace amounts of THC in my system from using delta 8 products (protected and legal on both state and federal level). It came up in a “random” drug test.
I fought back. I presented documentation, lab tests from the products I use, purchase reciepts, laws, and excerpts from company policy to prove I did not violate the substance abuse policy or any other. I am non-DOT and not in a safety sensitive position. Unfortunately, HR said they didn't care and fired me.
My engineering work is a desk job. All of my work is excellent quality, always on time, and there has never been an incident. I am responsible for the vast majority of mechanical work on my team, as almost everyone else has quit already. It is hilarious that they are treating me like a criminal who has ruined my career, when they will be the one suffering with me no longer on the team. I already have multiple other job offers and I don't plan to quit delta 8.
Anyone else hate their company's BS practices and wish to commisserate?
