I have a colleague thats always late by 15 to 30 min every shift. But he seems to do it on my shift only. I told my boss about this and they said they spoke to him but he still continues to do it and he said there is nothing he can do more.
I told him okay thats fine because at least I will be getting paid extra since sometimes I work 40 hours a week it will be over time.
Here is the catch! He told me actually we don’t approve over time so we just pay you the extra time when you work below 40 hours a week but when you work 40 hours we do not approve over time so we cannot pay you those minutes you have to wait. (I work in Security and its am mandatory to stay until your next person arrives).
Well I say thats ridiculous I am not gonna wait for free.. they told me that they make sacrifices in life so I should do the same, that I need to understand that these are the rules.. I told my boss than I will be talking to legal help because that is ridiculous and he said “stop being a baby, I work extra minutes sometimes for free, its just a couple minutes”
Am I the asshole here?
