Am I overreacting by trying to help my co worker not to burn himself out?

So I've been working in one company for 3 years now, went from a regular employee to a supervisor. Most of those years I used to work the closing shift and so that means cleaning the whole shop and even now as a supervisor when they ask me to close, I don't just sit around during the shift (because closing shifts are usually pretty quiet and it's usually only 2 people closing), I actually help the team members and I cleaned together with them. And I've heard from multiple co workers saying that I'm doing a great job for helping them. Well last week we had a new supervisor get hired for the closing shifts. Well last week we had a new supervisor get hired for the closing shifts. And my Assistant Manager (who I'm really good friends with) told her all of this BS that she doesn't need to clean anything and she needs to give all the cleaning tasks to the team members.

This boiled my blood and I tried to tell my AM about this but he didn't care. So what I did was I told the team members to just clean your area and leave everything else to the Supervisor. And I said if they ask why, to just say my name, I will deal with the backlash and will fight until she starts cleaning too.

Am I doing the right thing for fighting for others?
