To start off I'll say what happened to get me fired.
I was an apprentice electrician for a company with 1000+ employees, I was sent to a giant jobsite for a PGA golf course. This place was huge and required multiple guys in pick ups to drive materials to locations all throughout the day. I was put into the materials section where my job was inventory and prefab. One guy up and quit so we were down a driver. My foreman gave me the keys to one of the trucks and told me I'm a driver now. I did this for about 3 days before the supervisor found out and told me I wasn't allowed to be driving company vehicles because I was only an apprentice and not on the company insurance. I was told to go home and I was expecting to get written up the next day. I got a call at 9pm telling me I was fired. I was upset, but I figured if this was how they went about things maybe I dodged a bullet not staying there. The next day I called up a few places, had an interview the day after and was working at a new place in less than 5 days.
In the time I've been with the new place I have been given two raises, tool replacement for drills that have burned up. Even free PTO when the owner went on vacation.
I only had one thing to say to the first place that emailed me.
“I'm never going to be bit by the same dog twice.”
