As a delivery driver, personally, it doesn't really matter if someone leaves a tip, because I just won't take any orders that pay under $1 per mile, and most drivers go off that same rule. I agree that companies should pay us a living wage and not have us rely on tips, BUT THEY DON'T! Even if they did the prices of their menu items would be much higher, (up to 25%) so you, as a customer, would still have to pay the extra money either way. So, if you are a person who doesn't like to tip, that is totally fine, your order will circulate among all the drivers in your area until it pays enough for one of us to take. So, if you want your order 'on time', I recommend you calculate how far the restaurant is from your house and add an additional mile or 2, to account for how far the driver may be from the merchant you ordered from, and make that number be your tip amount. Or you can just wait it out and get cold soggy food. It doesn't matter to us 🤷️.
