Work fired me for being a remote worker unexpectedly

First of all, thank you for reading this, and you are helping me a lot as I am really helpless now. Please pardon my bad English as it is my second language. Please let me know if I am causing any confusion. I have worked in this company in person for the past 5+ years. I needed to move out of state because of family issue. First of all, thank you for reading this, and you are helping me a lot as I am really helpless now. Please pardon my bad English as it is my second language. Please let me know if I am causing any confusion.

I have worked in this company in person for the past 5+ years. I needed to move out of state because of family issue. I gave the company more than a month of notice about relocation, so they can decide either let me to be a remote worker, or I can resign (which I was fine with it because I can have a month or so to prepare for job finding)

And they agreed that I can be a remote worker. Fast forward to today, after a week of working remotely, I was told that they no longer allow someone who works remotely for this job. And in the email they are very vague about termination, they just want me to return some work devices (which I can not work anymore without these devices) they did not mention a word about termination/laid off.

Is there anything, anything that I can do at this point? What should I say in the email to reply to the employer/HR? Thank you so very much for your help.
