This may seem relatively minor to you all, but I'm dealing with something that has me contemplating flaming out at my job.
I'm in at the basement so to speak of a very very new enterprise. I'm a relatively small cog in a small wheel with the potential to turn BIG things, but lately ineptitude on the part of our business partners has caused huge drama for the little guys like me at the bottom.
Today it was announce that we'd be doing mandatory and largely unplanned overtime, and for some reason I am furious. I knew to expect this the way things were going, but the fact that our boss had every opportunity to not commit us to sacrificing our personal lives for minimal returns (for us) just kills me. Plus, although this guy has been making all the right noises since we got hired, about not being a typical business, not run in a top-down fashion, and pushing back against everyone when we were unfairly put upon, he's the one pressing us right now.
We were given a deadline that is simply impossible to meet, or rather is impossible because the companies we work with rely so heavily on us to dig them out of their messes, and instead of informing the customer of this, and demanding a more reasonable date, he's trying to force it on his work force of like, 12 people.
I think the thing that pisses me off the most is, unless I'm specifically put on the spot to speak up, I probably won't. I have no idea if that will happen, but if it does, I might be posting about how I got myself fired.
