This is a rant.
I ended up being offered an in-person interview for the first business day after I got back from vacation. I wasn't able to be as prepared as I'd like, but after the way they dragged their feet & then rushed to schedule interviews, I wasn't sure if I even wanted the job.
The job interview was a Monday. It was an eh interview. They asked me where I saw myself in 5 years… As if we're not in the 2020s… umm, it'll be 2027 & if I survive the water war, probably a prison camp. (That was not my answer. But, I made a comment about that being a hard question since the pandemic blah blah blah blah.)
There were some more Red Flags in the interview regarding the job itself, but it's the type of position that I'll have the ability to change most of that. I am highly qualified for this job & was encouraged by people close to the organization to apply, so I know I can do the job & make a difference.
They told me there were two other candidates & once they had a chance to discuss the options, they would let me know the result by the end of week. I specifically asked if there would be second round interviews & was told no. So, Friday rolls around & I get an email that they need two more weeks… um, OK. Two weeks go by & I call to touch base. I get told there's been some people out of the office (I'm guessing Covid related, but didn't ask) & they haven't had a chance to schedule the second round of interviews. I was told there wouldn't be a second round of interviews. Either they changed thier minds or they didn't think I would be included in that! Either way, she told me she's “definitely” call me back by the end of the day. That was 10 days ago & I still haven't heard anything.
I've been going through some health stuff & may need surgery, so my husband & I decided I'd just be a housewife for the time being. I don't want to start a new job only to turn around & take 6-8 weeks off work. Plus, I found out my old job may get refunded come Fall, so I'd rather wait for that!
