Antiwork

Are these people confused or are they trolls?

So this is something that has been bothering me about antiwork for awhile. Its not just this sub but other antiwork places on the internet. I keep seeing post, ideas and memes that are actually bad for the antiwork movement when you think about it. One example is a cartoon I saw on Instagram. It was of a manager asking why her boss gave the cashier unlimited bathroom breaks. The manager is upset and the cartoon seems antiwork until the last few panels. There someone is telling the employee there is a line and the employee is sitting on the toilet smiling reading a book or magazine while saying “occupied”. I could just say this cartoon is anti antiwork as it depicts what a lot of management thinks will happen if you don't micromanage. That workers will just slack off.

Yet I've heard so many on this sub advocate for that. That if you are treated with any dignity to exploit it because fuck the system and fuck the oppressors.

My biggest pet peeve is this really weird idea that many on this sub have that if people didn't have to work they wouldn't. I honestly don't understand how they can say that and not see that is literally the opinion of the right and neo liberals that keeps a system on place that uses fear of poverty as the incentive to work.

Maybe those people can only associate work with things they don't want to do. I'm lucky that as a massage therapist my work is something I'm passionate about so I'd do it in a society where all of my basic needs were met without needing to work.

I'm just confused. Part of me wants to call these people trolls but part of me really takes them seriously. I really really need someone to explain to me how people on a left wing sub can say things like, “no one would work if it wasn't for the fear of poverty.” How exactly is that not a right wing argument against an expansive social safety net or even a UBI that allows all citizens to not work at all?
