I know the title is kind of vague, but let me explain. A relative (f20) of mine (f22) was at an interview for a job at a church. Things were going well until the interviewer brings up the fact that I, the person he is not interviewing, posts stuff on Facebook about “drinking and partying”. For reference, I don’t party, and I just drink socially from time to time.
I believe the post he was referencing was something about how if tequila is your favorite go-to liquor, you’re toxic. It was a joke, I like tequila, I’m of legal age to drink, who cares. But my relative tells me that the interviewer asks her if she’s like that, just because “he saw the post about drinking and partying”.
So, I was pretty upset when she told me all this. The thing that made me the most upset was the fact that this guy isn’t even friends with me on Facebook, and all my posts are for friends only. Secondly, I’m upset that he was using MY post against someone else, instead of judging her for who she is, not based on someone else’s actions.
Any thoughts on this or am I overreacting?
Side note: I’m mutual friends with a lot of people he’s friends with, including his wife, so he probably saw the post through them, but either way it still doesn’t give him the right to bring it up during someone else’s interview.
