Antiwork

my work requires us to clock in by using our SS# at the cashregister right in front of the employee currently operating the register.

When we clock in or clock out We are required to punch in our social security number Into the cash register Right in front of the cashier that's currently operating the register. I thought it was strange enough that we have to use a cash register to clock in or out to begin with its also frustrating in that if there is a line of customers or an order hung up and taking forever you must wait until the reguster is free. This has made me late on several occasions even though I was there and ready to work 5 mins or more early. But mainly I'm totally not comfortable with punching in my social security number right in front of someone else directly watching me. Is this even legal?
