So I had a 1:1 meeting with my manager, and she was about 5 cups into the corporate kool-aid. The jist of her talk this time was about how “brave” one of our execs is because he signed a $1 million marketing related deal. The funny part is, he signed the deal without considering anything: no calculating estimated return, if our company has the budget for it, consulting ANYONE else at the organization to see if this is a good idea. Nope. Just signed the contract.
Imagine if a lower level employee did that for even a $10,000 purchase. Immediate firing without a second thought. But when an executive makes a decision without thinking it through, somehow they're a hero.
