Shitty boss doing unethical stuff

In the United States, surprise! Not my story- from a fb group I’m in, but too much text to screenshot. “OK…this is a “what would you do?” post for a friend who has ADHD. She arrived at work yesterday, and she was locked out of her computer. She had to reset her password to get into it to work. Turns out, her boss had reset her password, gone into her email, deleted old emails, and rearranged her paperwork to make her “more organized”, because he said she'd been “missing important details.” The thing is…he didn't talk to her about this before he did it. “OK…this is a “what would you do?” post for a friend who has ADHD.

She arrived at work yesterday, and she was locked out of her computer. She had to reset her password to get into it to work. Turns out, her boss had reset her password, gone into her email, deleted old emails, and rearranged her paperwork to make her “more organized”, because he said she'd been “missing important details.”

The thing is…he didn't talk to her about this before he did it. And, he did it on her day off, while her fellow employees watched (everyone in sales sits together in a corral type cubicle setup). He's also told her she's not eligible for commission until she “gets her act in order.”

She is…understandably, VERY upset.

I told her that she should write down her feelings, and ask to have a mtg with him with HR present, then ask for a transfer to a different store (this is high end retail sales, big ticket items).

Do you have any advice for her? Right now she's in a shame spiral, even though I keep pointing out that this was terrible communication on the part of her boss.

I also suggested asking if she can listen to brown noise during the day, since the environment is very disruptive (co-workers are loud, music is loud, bright lights) – any other tips, solutions, or similar stories I could relay to her as fellow amazing women with ADHD?

Keep in mind, she's one of the top sales folks in the company, and has the highest customer service ratings of anyone in her region.”
