Antiwork

I was recently hired under a bunch of false pretenses.

I went through a lengthy hiring process at a large organization in the city, and eventually got the offer! During the initial phone screen, the recruiter asked me if $24hr was okay because that was the starting offer. I said yes. Well, once I was offered the job, the pay came out to be $1 less at $23 an hour. When I spoke to the recruiter about it, she said I must have heard wrong etc etc I know I didn’t, but because I wanted to work for this company, I let it slide. Today, they finally gave me my schedule for orientation. For training, they’re going to be sending me somewhere 1 hour and 30 minutes away. Again, this is not something they told me during the 3 interviews. I even asked them what would training be like – and they never mentioned the travel I would have to…

Today, they finally gave me my schedule for orientation. For training, they’re going to be sending me somewhere 1 hour and 30 minutes away. Again, this is not something they told me during the 3 interviews. I even asked them what would training be like – and they never mentioned the travel I would have to do. They had so much time to tell me all of this too and they decided to do it all last minute.

I feel like all of this is such a red flag and makes me not want to move forward with the company anymore.

PS: I would have to take 3 different trains (NYC) to get to the training/orientation location for the next 20 days.
