The problem is I genuinely like this job and I gave them one month's notice because it's a small company. Since I know will be very hard to replace me. I'm not treating my own horn, it's just not a common skill to have.
I was recruited for this position by the company I'm going to.
My issue here, is that I've received nothing but lukewarm feedback to negative feedback. From my boss and his boss. I have never received a positive review in the 6 years I've worked for this company. Last year they didn't even give me a raise.
The other issue I had was that every time they gave me a bad review I asked them what the issue was. Every time the answer was I don't know.
Here's the rub.
When I gave my notice, to a boss I genuinely like. He proceeds to tell me how great of an employee I was, how dedicated I was, how I take care of the customer well and I knew my stuff. I've been a remote employee since 2016, and he never had to worry whether I would show up to work or not.
Then I talked to his boss, who said the same thing.
My thought when both of them said this was you know when it would have been a good time to tell me this shit? During my review, with a raise.
Should I be pissed off here? I'm not going to let this ruin the relationship. Or cause anything to make my departure from this company negative. But it just made me think they were giving me bad reviews so I wouldn't ask for a raise.
Which is messed up. If I knew it was a valid employee I never would have listened to offers. It's a small company so it's kind of poorly run, but the job was stress-free, can't beat the commute and I generally like the people I work with.
