I'm paid $10 an hour while doing the work of an assistant manager. our store is “too small” to have an assistant manager position. the only person allowed to have full-time hours is the store manager.
I've been working here for over a year and only received one raise that was 17¢. everyone got the same amount at the time – regardless of how long they've been working here.
during our shifts, corporate expects us to be active in a group chat where we call out the amount of items we sell per transaction, what category, how many credit card applications, etc.. they also expect us to send how much money we've made so far 4 times a day. there's literally zero reason we should have to do any of that because they can clearly see how each store is doing. if we aren't active in the chat, we get in trouble. we literally have customers to deal with and don't have a lot of time for that???
every time I mention wanting a raise to my manager, they tell me they can't do anything about it, I'd have to go to HR. well HR won't hear anyone out about raises.
corporate was touring all the stores in the district around Easter, and when they came in, they had a basket of little plastic eggs and some gift cards. all of us just got a piece of fucking candy. the manager got a Starbucks gift card. I let them know that I'm looking for something that pays better and they just said “we'll hate to see you go”.
not to sound self absorbed or anything, but this store would crumble without me and what I do. there's 7 of us here – manager included, and I've been picking up the slack.
I don't feel valued. I have no room to grow in this company even though that's what they advertise. I can't wait to get a better paying job. until then, they're not getting the same effort I've been putting in. they're getting $10 an hour worth of effort.
sorry for the rant, today's just been an awful day and I needed to vent about this terrible job. I'm waiting on my new ID to come in then I'm getting out of here.
