Workplace doesn’t care about about our health

*Apologies for any formatting issues, I'm on mobile and very new to reddit So, I work at a tour agency giving themed tours, and we are required to wear long, black capes. This wouldn't be an issue, aside from the fact that we work exclusively outside and are required to wear long sleeves/tights even in heatwave weather. When I started working at the company the weather was around 35°C, and when I asked to not wear tights with my outfit, I was encouraged to keep them on even if I was way too warm. We recently received a review from a customer regarding our uniforms (purely just worried for us in the heat) and I'm glad people have taken notice of this issue. So, I work at a tour agency giving themed tours, and we are required to wear long, black capes.

Another issue regarding weather for us is their tour policy and schedule. We start the season in late february (usually sits around -20 or -30°C) and end in early to mid December (-15 to -20°C), with tours going rain or shine. This is obviously not sustainable for us guides, but we are also routinely made to work in thunderstorms. The company policy states that tours will be cancelled if there is thunder or lightning, but its ultimately up to us to call that, not our managers. I trusted my managers a lot, but its obvious that their bottom line matters more than guide safety.

Anyway, this is a bit of a rant, but I really wish the company cared more about our safety.
