Is this illegal according to Michigan labor laws?

Not sure if this is the group to ask but I’m a big fan. My boyfriend has a supervisor position and is paid his base salary for 50 hours/week and anything on top of that is an extra $2/hour for OT. I know he’s considered exempt from OT pay but his base salary should still only be applicable to 40/week, right? Or?
