Last year my boss reached out to me to create a workshop and I agreed. A few months later and mid way through development I asked about payment and he told me he would let me know what the rates schedule would be. Workshop is finished and a script is developed and promotional material is finished and I speak to my boss again and he explains how I'm not getting paid for the development of the course, only the presentation of it because he's not getting paid for it.
We had a conversation where he asked me to record my hours spent on development and not log it into my invoices yet. I figured it would be a big pay out after it's completed.
That this has been such a great experience to develop my skills and challenge what I would normally do but I feel so manipulated and it makes it feel dirty and negative as a professional development.
I'm mad I did all this work, I'm mad I was so naïve to believe that my boss would pay me for all my hard work and that I assumed the best in him. And I'm made that I've been taken advantage of.
I don't know what I should do at this point. Too many emotions to sort through before I can be logical and figure this out.
Edit for clarification: I am an employee and I am in Canada
