So tired of being nice after getting rejected

I'm privileged to say that I love my job, and I'm so grateful for that. But a recruiter reached out to me for an opportunity and when she told me the range started at what would be a 50% increase for me, I had to learn more, even though part of me knew I'd miss where I am now. I went through the whole portfolio review and the guy is a little intense, and he's critiquing my portfolio, telling me things that “even basic designers should know” and I'm thinking, didn't you reach out to me? I'm privileged to say that I love my job, and I'm so grateful for that. But a recruiter reached out to me for an opportunity and when she told me the range started at what would be a 50% increase for me, I had to learn more, even though part of me knew I'd miss where I am now.

I went through the whole portfolio review and the guy is a little intense, and he's critiquing my portfolio, telling me things that “even basic designers should know” and I'm thinking, didn't you reach out to me? Why are you even interviewing me? I'll take feedback where I can get it, but I've been in this industry for 5 years and gotten plenty of jobs, its definitely not perfect but why are you even talking to me? This was impromptu, I had 2 days between the recruiter interview and this, and I haven't brushed my portfolio up at all because I'm happy where I am. This seems like a huge waste of my time.

Then I get the response from the recruiter (who was the best part of the experience) saying that it's not a fit for right now. I know it could be my personality or my work or any number of variables, but I'm sitting here wondering why they reached out in the first place? And now I have to do the nice email back even though I have no interest ever working with this guy? Ugh.
