I requested to work from home in March of 2020 because of my husband’s history of lung issues. This was about a week or two before a lot of my other co-workers were instructed to start working from home. The first time restrictions were lifted in my area, I was concerned about having to be asked to return to the building. Fortunately, I wasn’t.
Since then, I developed a chronic illness unrelated to COVID-19 and am now considered immunocompromised, giving me an even better reason to not be in a building of at least 100 people — a lot of which have caught the virus.
Although restrictions won’t officially be loosened in my state until the beginning of March, masks are already starting to become a rarity. For example, when my husband went out in public for a brief moment recently, he was the only one wearing a mask.
With how impatient people are to get back to the “new normal” (whatever that is), I’m afraid my employer will demand I return to the building despite them knowing I’m more susceptible to the virus than I was prior to working from home.
Is anyone else in the same boat and/or have similar concerns?
