With COVID-19 restrictions being loosened yet again in the United States, is anyone else who has been working from home during the pandemic terrified of being asked to return to the building soon?

I requested to work from home in March of 2020 because of my husband’s history of lung issues. This was about a week or two before a lot of my other co-workers were instructed to start working from home. The first time restrictions were lifted in my area, I was concerned about having to be asked to return to the building. Fortunately, I wasn’t. Since then, I developed a chronic illness unrelated to COVID-19 and am now considered immunocompromised, giving me an even better reason to not be in a building of at least 100 people — a lot of which have caught the virus. Although restrictions won’t officially be loosened in my state until the beginning of March, masks are already starting to become a rarity. With how impatient people are to get back to the “new normal” (whatever that is), I’m afraid my employer will demand I return to the building despite them knowing I’m more susceptible to the virus than I was prior to working from home.

Is anyone else in the same boat and/or have similar concerns?
