Pay Not Keeping Pace With Inflation

I am betting pretty much everyone on this sub has heard the complaints from employers about job hoppers, anyone younger then the baby boomers aren’t committed to their employer etc. Some jobs have kept up with inflation, some pay more, and many pay less. I believe it’s the middle income jobs that haven’t kept up. My dad is retired and makes comments about how the company he worked for can’t keep people. He made roughly 120k back in the mid 90’s. I only know this because he would never talk money and I was curious so I found one of his paychecks. That pay today is equivalent to 230k. Do you know what the company is paying people today? 60-70k. Roughly less then 1/3 of what he was paid. He complains how these new guys don’t work hard and aren’t dedicated to the job like he was. Hmmm… maybe if…

Yes, some jobs pay very well, however, those are fewer and fewer as years go on. Employers pay bullshit wages, expect bullshit work and dedication.
