So it’s rush hour and I’m running the self scan center at my job.
Many people need assistance so I’m doing my best to reach everyone as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This old white man with a baseball cap is beyond pissed. Red in the face he is slamming his products down on the side of the machine.
“Why would it stop?! Can you get this stupid machine to work ?!?! Stupid worker stupid machine why won’t it let me scan?!”
I look at the machine’s screen and notice that in bold letters it states ‘remove heavy objects from scale’ so I pick up a box of cola cans and direct myself to his cart
and he becomes livid
“CANT YOU SEE MY CART IS FULL?! I BUY ALOT OF STUFF DONT PUT IT IN MY CART “
I try to explain”sir the machine won’t scan because of the weight-“
“THEN THROW IT ON THE FLOOR DAMNIT!? StUPID WORKER JUST FIX THE STUPID MACHINE”
And he slams everything on the machine onto the floor hitting me (my feet and leg)in the process. I raise my hands as a reaction and scan my worker card to reset the machine so he can continue to scan his items.
I can’t even process what just happened because I have 10 more customers who need my help. He continues to scan things while mumbling things about how stupid I am and how stupid the machines are and the people here. Well he needs my help again. I quickly clear it before he whines and throws another tantrum. I keep an eye on him and notice how in his bag of bottles one of them exploded and he took out the bottle left it on the machine and left the mess of water all over the scale and machine.
As he leaves i yell” HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY SIR!!!” And he turns around to get money from the bank we have in the store.
No one said a word because who will stand up for a worker haha.
Anyways I felt so embarrassed for that old man who really wanted to slam and throw things and make a huge mess at 7pm during extreme rush hour.
Hope he is satisfied with himself.
