Boss cursed us out today because of his own mistake

For context this is a minimum wage job that I’ve been working for 6 years now. I’m the longest tenured staff member and I know the job inside and out, it’s a relatively easy and simple job. My main boss has been there barely longer than me and my other boss only a year or two. I’m not gonna quit because I enjoy every aspect of the job aside from my boss (or bosses I guess) and the money is great (tips). This is more of a rant than a what to do.

So at my job we have two sections we are in charge of, and there is designated staff for each. Each shift there are two people assigned to the section I work in, and one person assigned to the other section. The weekend is the busiest days of the week and is absolutely essential to have the right amount of staff in each section.

Today there was no one scheduled to work the section that I don’t normally work in, my coworker and I realized this might be a problem but figured we could could maintain it. It was definitely manageable throughout the morning as only one section was busy. It wasn’t until both sections got busy that it became a problem. We had one person on each section and I was getting flooded alone. My one boss decides this is a great time for me to start training a new kid that just got there. So here I am at peak busiest of the day and I’m trying to show this guy what to do, which is making everything I’m trying to do a lot slower (not his fault though, and he really clutched up). As expected both sections are now an absolute shit show but thankfully the overlap comes in. But of course the guys working the next shift have only been working there for a week, so they don’t really know how to do a lot of stuff either.

This is the great part, my boss storms in and proceeds to starting screaming and cursing at me, the kid I’m training, and 2 guys that have been there a week. He says “I have seen this place be so fucking bad, are you guys fucking kidding me?” Starts flipping out about how unbelievable this situation is. I was trying not to burst out laughing. He’s always been a prick but I’ve never seen him like this before, even though there has been a lot worse situations. What really ticked me off is that my other boss tells me that it’s me and my other coworkers fault for this mess because we should’ve been more prepared knowing there was no one working the other section. Tried my hardest not to curse him out. Is he fucking kidding me? Please tell me how it is our fault when they’re the ones who didn’t fucking schedule enough people to work? Neither of them know to how to take responsibility for their actions.

Like I said I’m not quitting this job but holy fuck would I like new bosses

TLDR- boss cursed me and my coworkers out because he didn’t schedule enough staff
