My manager handed my bag to a convicted felon

TLDR at the bottom I apolgise as im writing this off my phone. A little context. I (18m) work for a hotel in a less than perfect area. We get a lot of sketchy individuals in and out. I have been working here for about 7 months and my manager (39F) has been there for around 2 years I do everything by the book and I do whatever im told. I would like to think im a great employee. I've built a friendship with all the staff and have a working relationship with my boss. If I get asked to cover a shift, I'll be there. However my place here and how much I felt valued was just put in check. About a week ago my manager handed my bag to a guest (by accident), who subsequently ran off with it. TLDR at the bottom
I apolgise as im writing this off my phone.

At the start of my shift our night audit guy handed over to me and filled me in that a guest in room __ is sketchy and has a criminal record. With a Google search, you find his name as the top result for an assault charge and an abduction charge. I was asked to kick him out as he was seen breaking into our pool at 2am, and attempting to get into our bar fridge. When our maintenance guy was doing his checks he heard screaming coming from the room so I immediately called the police to have him escorted out. He wasn't in the room but his friends and his belongings were. His friends were kicked out and not much more came of it however, he had the room booked for 1 more night and there was a $500 cash bond being held, so we knew he'd be back. I blocked his keycards and went to inspect the room.

On inspection, immediately you were hit with the smell of cigarette smoke, there were wine stains on the duvet and carpet, ash from cigarettes on the benches and chips all over the floor. But the best part he had taken one of our speakers from our restaurant and was using it in his room. I should mention all guests sign a bond agreement which agrees to the typical no pets, damage fees. But it specifically states that if you have been found to have smoked in the room you forfeit the $500 bond.

My manager on hearing this told me not to refund his bond as he violated our bond agreement and the room will now need to be deep cleaned. Our housekeepers gathered his belongings and brought them to front desk were my issues start.

He came back as expected and my manager instead of letting me handle the situation steps infront of me. English is not her first language and as she's trying to kick him out he isn't fully understanding and I have to clarify a few words. I continue working on our computer and complete some other reservations and payments while this is going on. With some resistance he finally accepts he's not being refunded and he is being kicked out — A note I always keep my bag by my feet and his belongings were placed next to my bags but with a clear noticeable gap — My manager picks up his bags and mine and hands them to him, to which he walks off in a hurry. I wasn't paying attention as I was busy amending another reservation at the time. He left and finally my day could be peaceful. The rest of my shift went along without a hitch, until I go to leave.

As im not getting up to leave i start frantically looking for my bag as its not here, then it clicked and I immediately knew what had happened. Sure enough CCTV footage confirmed she hands him my backpack and he leaves with it.

That back pack contained my brand new 2021 macbook pro and my remarkable 2 which I had gotten as an 18th present as I'm going into my second year of an engineering degree. This happened a week ago. There's an active police report but I've had no help and no updates from them (even after requesting an update). Im writing this during my shift, when it finishes my parents are coming in to discuss with my boss how the issue is going to be sorted as I can't wait and let nearly $5000 worth of belongings go missing.

I've decided im quitting this job. The abuse alone from working reception at a hotel is bad enough, but being undermined and my bosses doing nothing when my bag was handed by my manager to a convicted felon was the last straw.

TLDR: During a shift at a hotel, my manager handed my backpack containing $5000 worth of belongings to a convicted felon.
