My father has spent 15 years of his life working for this shitty newspaper organization. On paper, he's the assistant of the manager of advertising (not assistant manager), but in reality, he does most of the job. The manager doesn't even show up most of the time, doesn't know how anything works, can't even operate a computer and all the clients hate him so they communicate with my father instead . The manager earns 10x my father just to sit on his ass because he had good rapport with the late father of the CEO. Did I mention he's well over the retirement age?
My father was jobless for 3 years before he got this job, so I understand he's grateful/emotional about it, but he's wearing himself down. His salary is a measly ₹10000/$125, which, by even India's standard gets you jackshit. For comparison, our electricity bill for one month is more than 30% of this. He leaves the house at 10 am and comes back at 10pm 6 days of the week only for a meagre amount.
The CEO of the company is the real jackass. He inherited this company after his father died and has been doing nothing worthwhile. He owns multiple BMWs, goes to Europe for trips 15 days a month, and threatens the office staff that he will close the office because it isn't profitable. When Covid hit, he forced some of the employees who live far away to stay in the office for two months. He also knows the importance of my father's work so he sent office car to take him to the office during lockdown, but no pay increase. My fathe got sick and took a few days off cor suspected covid and he forced him to take days off from his PTO (he gets 8 PTO in a year).
Last night father got sick because he hasn't been eating properly and going to the office amidst terrible heat amd today he wanted to go to office. I understand he was humiliated and insulted a lot when he was jobless by his own family and friends but now I have a job that gives me more than 20x what he makes and I don't even have to step out of the home. I don't see why he's so adamant to keep his job. I tried to talk to him but he saya “I don't want to sit at home.” I don't it's worth his health. He's only 4 years away from retiring. I just wish he retired. Let those shitheads burn.
