As far as I'm concerned spreading out the work of one position to other employees to fill any role that has been lost for any reason without compensation for those employees with a heavier work load, is wage theft. Hiring someone for a specific position and specific tasks then expecting them to go above and beyond what was outlined for the position is wage theft.
I don't agree with the term “quiet quitting.” It has an implication of one not wanting to do their job, and that is not the point of the “movement.” The point is to cease going above and beyond your pay.
Another term I have seen coined is “acting your wage” which is better, but still gives some fuel for condemnation and can be twisted to sound immature.
I feel the best way to present and lable this movement is with the term Personal Loss Prevention, or PLP.
All companies have their own LP (Loss Prevention) programs in some form, it is time for the workers to have their own. This is why unions should be given so much more weight! But if you don't have a union backing you, you need to be diligent in conducting your own PLP (Personal Loss Prevention).
The end.
