Are all managers just useless?

Just started my new bar job part time and the rota is posted on the whatsapp group for the whole week. the manager posted the rota for this week about 5 days ago, and straight away i messaged saying i couldn’t work friday (today), i’d figured since i stated it straight away it wouldn’t be an issue. she posted an updated rota the next day and i was taken off for today – all good so far. then this morning rolls around and they posted the brief for todays work, and i’m on it. i was confused as i clearly wasn’t on the rota and had been removed, but the deputy manager who’s on today said on the internal company system i was still rota’d for today (the manager hadn’t changed it), so he’d really like me to work today. i straight up said i’m sorry but no, i know…
