A company that owns several restaurants in the city of Dunedin Florida has recently decided to change all of their front of house staff to commission based workers. They will now be paying all of their waitstaff, bartenders, hosts, and bussers $1 an hour plus commission.
All customer bills will now come with a mandatory 20% “service charge” 15% off which will go to the server or bartender that served you. The remaining 5% gets split between the rest of the staff. You are still expected to tip.
They are essentially passing their entire front of house staffing costs onto the customer. And they are fucking over their workers. It's absolutely ridiculous
