New guy at my friend’s workplace is earning more than her.

My veterinarian assistant friend has been working at a small veterinary hospital for twice as long as a guy who is being paid $1.50 an hour more, despite that guy being a kennel assistant–a position with fewer responsibilities, and he's basically just cleaning when she is restraining animals, talking to clients over the phone and in person, reviewing patient medical history/making sure it's up to date and confirming that medications don't conflict…and a lot more. My friend wants assistance writing a compelling email to her managers making the case for her pay to be increased to at least her coworker's pay and potentially more. There are also competitors paying their new-hires more than she's being paid, so she wants help writing that into the email. She also has a bachelor's degree while her coworkers don't. She also isn't sure whether to ask for back pay.
