My friend (who isn't familiar with reddit and asked me to make this post), has 14 weeks worth of missing paychecks, and doesn't know what to do about it. Their coworkers are in a similar situation. They work at a small (5 person) but well established company.
They've been looking into the New York State department of labor to figure out how to get their wages back and get out of that job. What resources do you guys know about that would help them understand the legal/financial implications of making a claim?
It looks like they can't make a claim directly through the dept. of labor because they makes over the $900 a week threshold. Is that a correct reading of their website? The wording is confusing.
Are they going to have to start a lawsuit, and would it qualify as a pro bono case?
