I got called into the office of the woman above my supervisor, and was told I had been performing below the standard for three or more months, and that I was being let go just days before my probation period ended
At no point in my time there was I told I was underperforming. Productivity was never discussed and I received absolutely zero training from my supervisor or anyone other than coworkers who opted to help me as I self trained at a very complex job. I was completely blindsided by this, as I'd been told by coworkers and customers that I was doing well.
My supervisor wouldn't even look at me or talk to me when they fired me. The coward.
The point here is this: always have a backup plan, always be ready to leave on short notice. Even government positions aren't safe. Your employer is not your friend.
