Masters level but no insurance :/

So I’m looking for a job in my field with my new licensure and I came across multiple job postings that are “fee for service” meaning there’s no benefits. I did NOT work my butt off for a masters degree to not be given health insurance. Isn’t this a little insane?? I could understand a job at arbys not giving you health insurance, but when you work in a medical field and have a masters degree, I honestly did not think not having health insurance would be a concern. Are employers trying to skimp out on employees this way? Is this the fault of gig economy taking over? The job was perfect in every other way, it was so sad having to tell them I can’t take the job because I’d probably literally die without health insurance :/
