this doesn’t seem right

I work in the automotive industry. Last year I changed jobs from a car dealership service dept to an independent local chain auto repair shop. Last month I found out a previous coworker at the dealership was looking to make a change as well. Spoke with them, got them to apply and of course they got the job. Last month I found out a previous coworker at the dealership was looking to make a change as well. Spoke with them, got them to apply and of course they got the job. I trained this coworker to do the same job as myself but at another location. This was three weeks ago. I did not know there was a hiring bonus and the district manager advised I would get that. However I found out today they gave my previous coworker/trainee a promotion that I have expressed multiple times I would like. I spoke to my boss only saying I am not happy about this and I would like to revisit it after the weekend. I don't feel like this is the right thing to do when I've been with the company for over a year and my trainee has been with the company for less than a month. How do I tell them if I can't have the promotion I want a raise or I'm walking out without being so aggressive about it?
