Karma, it’s real!

I was transferred to a new location. In the 1st year, one of my coworkers went on medical leave for surgery. My boss asked me to cover for him during the 8 weeks, to “learn the ropes”. I was young and stupid so I agreed. After the guy returned, my other coworker went on medical for 10 weeks. Yep, I provided the cover again. 18 weeks in the first year covering shutdown turnarounds (double shifts), no time off, and long work weeks. When it came time for an annual review, my boss thanked me and said I would be transferred at the end of the year. It became evident I was used. Fast forward. While there, I gave some old 2×4's to the 1st coworker from a deck I disassembled. Found out he used them for some structure by his garage and that they snapped. He was on them when…

When it came time for an annual review, my boss thanked me and said I would be transferred at the end of the year. It became evident I was used.

Fast forward. While there, I gave some old 2×4's to the 1st coworker from a deck I disassembled. Found out he used them for some structure by his garage and that they snapped. He was on them when it happened, fell 15 feet, and landed across the tailgate of his truck. Broken back.
I was transferred out, so couldn't provide coverage….
