Is it common (or becoming common) for drive-thru to ask you for tips?

After running some morning errands, i decided to stop by a local donut shop that rhymes with Ripley's. I ordered 3 kolaches which came out to $6 and change. I kept it simple; grabbed my food and left after paying; but now i'm fumbling for feelings somewhere in-between “wtf, leave a tip on a $6 order through a window?”, “the audacity”, “is this normal?”, and “oh, wait is this where we are in the world now?”.

Anyone else been getting this kind of experience lately?
