Yesterday, co-worker comes in after a day off to work a 10 hour shift in the warehouse. On his wrist, he has one of those bracelets they put on you in the hospital. People asked about it.
“I have a pretty serious medical issue I'm dealing with. I'm not contagious or anything though. I'm keeping the bracelet on because I have to go back to the hospital tomorrow.”
Shortly after this a manager comes up to him and asks if he can work the same shift the next day, his second day off. So he was off, worked yesterday and is off today. He tells them he cannot, because he has to go back to the hospital. Points to the bracelet on his arm.
Management tells him he will have to bring in a doctor's note to excuse his absence.
His… absence. On…………. his day off.
This isn't something he recounted to me, I saw it all go down.
Thankfully, our General Manager is an awesome dude and I'm sure this will all be dealt with appropriately, but how can the manager who said this shit actually think it even remotely sounds reasonable?
