My director is subtly giving me opportunities to lead a team in my department. Now, normally, for the field I work in, this is a great thing and in normal circumstances, I wouldn’t be posting this here. However, I am going for an MBA next year and have already secured my admission. Therefore, all this extra workload will not yield any advantage to me, either in terms of brownie points with leadership or compensation.
Is there a polite way of declining such an offer without burning bridges?
