I can't believe how many people in this sub have experienced so many terrible jobs. I'm a capitalist, and a conservative. But I support unionization of the workplace 100 percent, and I also agree that what some of these companies do is basically extortion and slave labor. But either some of you have a really terrible choice of jobs or you're just unlucky. My job even though it's back breaking, dirty ass work takes extremely good care of me. 100 percent company paid health insurance, life insurance, and dental insurance. They start you with 15 days of vacation. They give you a 15 point scale of punishment. Each call off not scheduled is 1 point. The points fall off every calendar year. If you work optional Saturdays they take away a point. So you could call off 1 day a week without ever accumulating a point. During covid they gave a 3 dollar raise because of inflation and cost of living. Our last Christmas bonus was 14k. It's a 9-5 job in the rubber industry non union. They also contribute 50 percent towards daycare for parents with young children. They also throw huge parties, all you can eat ribs and surf and turf lunches. Food trucks, corn roasts, company picnics and Christmas parties with open bar, giveaways with multi thousand dollar items. More companies should follow this company and Americans would be much happier coming to work. It's also disastrous that we are the worst treated employees in the entire western society. A lot of other countries if you get fired, they are required to continue paying you until you find new employment, you get 5 weeks vacation guaranteed, your job is protected. They don't view calling off as a negative. They don't work absurd hours. I'm tired of every job wanting you to work 12 hour shifts or 10 hour shifts 5 days a week. Ive never viewed capitalism as something bad because it built this country into a kingdom and created the most powerful force on earth, but it has become a country ruled by the rich that buy the politicians and left the middle class unrepresented and out of luck.
