i’ve worked at this gym for a couple months, and several of the HVAC systems have been out since before I started. It’s hot and muggy to varying degrees throughout the gym, and at some times it’s been hard to bear during these heat waves. (I threw up from heat exhaustion my third shift). A member brought in a thermometer and the gym ranges from 83-85 degrees throughout. They’ve sent people to repair it, and they tell us all the coils need to be replaced, but I just found out from my manager that the reason corporate gave for not replacing the coils is because we’re not bringing in enough new members (meanwhile members are cancelling because of the heat).
I know I could make a complaint with the Department of Labor, but is there anything else I can do? I’m in NYC
