Is there a way out of this?

Is there a way to not give your entire life to capitalism? I’ve been trying to figure this out since high school. At first I believed, “love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life”. I went to college for my passions (social sciences). Worked in the field for a couple of years and realized I was being passion-exploited and never having time for anyone besides my bosses. Been bouncing around part time/gig jobs and being broke all the time for a few months since. Worked as a nanny for the summer and saved a couple grand to hopefully at least invest in something worthwhile. I still haven’t figured out what that is. Although I love that little boy, it was still so exhausting and the main way I got through each week was to continuously tell myself it was only a few months. I cannot…

I cannot imagine a job I wouldn’t be just waiting for my shift to end.
I’ve thought about vanlife, homesteading, and similar lifestyles that supposedly require a smaller income. But are those big lies too? Is there any way to get your needs and a few wants met without becoming a slave to capitalism?
I’m feeling incredibly hopeless and trapped.
