I work at a small marketing agency. We have had 3 separate covid cases in the past 6 months. My boss is making this huge effort to force all the remote employees back into the office this coming month and I explained how I don’t feel comfortable being in the office without a mask because of all the sickness going around. I have high risk people in my family and made this known.
The past 2 days, I wore my mask on all of our virtual meetings. One other employee who doesn’t want to come back was really supportive.
It looks weird, I look like the paranoid office asshole, but I feel like not only does it protect my health…but it also makes a statement. My boss has been sued by employees several times for HR related reasons and he’s terrified of lawsuits. So I know he’s not going to try to push this even though he doesn’t like it, he gets that it’s a health concern and can’t do much about it.
I made a comment that if he would like my face visible for client meetings, we can work out something to work remote on those days. He kind of blew it off and said “Yeah, we’ll think of something no biggie”. Is this a decent idea? I mean,
I probably don’t have to wear it at my desk but I feel like it just makes my reasoning much more sincere like it’s something I’m really concerned about. I’ll eat lunch in my car.
