I've basically been working in the trades since I was a young teen. I'm 54 now and am tired of it. It's not so much that I dislike building, I'm simply tired of the BS that goes along with it. Clients always wanting to cheap out, cut corners, making ridiculous schedules, and simply being a pain in the ass.
I understand that I can't make the money I make in a factory or warehouse that I make now but, many offer decent benefits compared to what I have. I do contract work so I have to pay for everything I have. I've worked for companies in the past and I always wind up in roles I don't want. I simply want to go to work, do my function, go home, then get paid.
I've been looking around on Glassdoor and have noticed a lot of the postings are from temp agencies. Not sure that's a good sign. I've done a little factory and warehouse work when I was young during a few winters. I think I want to try to see if I can do that kind of work again. Am I nuts?
