I read a lot about managers denying time off, trying to deny time off, threatening termination, etc.
My question is what industries are these? Is there any correlation to the type of work? Is it the company culture? Poor management style?
The reason I ask is that I am a manager (username checks out!) in the technical recruiting world and my standing rule is just put it on my calendar. Anything more than 1 day out don’t even talk to me about it. Just put it on my calendar, it’s your time off, use it however you want. If it’s less than 24 hours just shoot me a message or text notifying me you are taking tomorrow off. No questions asked, no interrogation, just use your time as you see fit however you want. I’m also a huge proponent of mental health and watch all of my employees timesheets to make sure they are not working over 40 hours in a week (all salary employees).
