Negotiated better offer with a new offer (my first time)

So I know this might not be that big of a deal. I have been following anti work for a while now and as someone who just started with their career this is my first time doing something like this. I joined my current company back in April and have been on probation which is supposed to end as the month of September ends. My performance has been through the roof and I was even sent for a major, major enterprise deployment as the only other person apart from my team lead.

But since my company still didn't finalise my stay here I started looking for other options.

Early August I applied for a job at a company and they followed up for your usual interviews and everything. I aced through all of them and landed an offer that's ~20% more than what my current company was paying me. And they had bonuses and a bunch of other benefits.

I tell my current employer about the situation and he immediately starts negotiating my stay. One good thing I managed to do during this period is to make a major dependency around myself which made the negotiation a breeze. So after a threat of resignation I got my permanent contract and a sweet raise of 25%, 2 months before my probation was supposed to end. Mind you, this happened within 24h of me saying that I'll be leaving.

What I learnt is that you should always create a good image of yourself within your team and a huge dependency around yourself. That should still keep your role replaceable but not you as an employee.
