Always amazes me how employers assume that workers should have a car and drive (for non driving related roles).

One job that I briefly glanced at didn’t even bother to put it in their person specification, yet this was something required. I could afford a car, I prefer not to have one. It isn’t like I am applying for jobs such as delivery driver or as a taxi cab. I only apply for jobs that I can walk to or get to via public transport, so there should be no reason that having a car should be mandatory. That is, unless they are wanting you to be at their beck and call at all times or do things not in your job role. At a time of increased focus on environmental sustainability, shouldn’t employers be encouraging workers travelling on public transport or walking anyway?
