my workplace is trying to change the start time from 7am to 6am

Exactly what the title says. Writing this on the toilet because i literally just heard the news during break. Now, they ARE going to pay us overtime for the extra hour. But it's not worth it. I'm a night owl. On top of that, i have ADHD which i take medication for, which makes falling asleep very difficult. Yes i take melatonin. Then there's the fact that i live 25 minutes away from my work. I have to wake up at 5am to meet the normal 7:00 start time. Because i am extremely sluggish in the mornings, to meet a 6am start time would require me to wake up at either 3:30 – 4:00 am.

On top of that, to get to my job i have to use country roads with a 55mph speed limit, that are often foggy in this season. On top of that, i have only been driving for a few months, and my first time driving in lowlight conditions was THIS MORNING.

I have already been drowsy driving multiple times trying to meet the 7am start time. I have very nearly fallen asleep at the wheel dozens of times, while going 55 MILES AN HOUR. Although let's be real, it's 60 mph, because everyone goes at least 5 miles over the limit.

On top of all THAT, my company is one of these that tracks your absences and tardies with a point system. You get penalized if you're even so much as 1 minute late. So if i want to get to work on time, i have to either speed whilst drowsy driving, or drive slowly to avoid killing myself and others and risk being late, OR wake up even earlier so i can drive slowly but which will also make me even drowsier.

I'm gonna talk to my supervisor about this, which is gonna be difficult as i'm the kinda person who cries when under extremely stress. Which will make me look bad. Wish me luck, but this might just be the final straw.
