First off, I was not given a raise after two years that I requested. I do maintenance at a nursing home. I came in underpaid to get my foot in the door but have much more experience than my position requires. I let them know I'd be looking for new employment.
My boss unexpectedly left work due to a back injury. He said he was out for good because he was close to retiring anyhow. I took over his position, started fulfilling his duties, took over the accounts etc. this netted me a lousy two dollar raise for taking over manager duties and still doing my job as well. They talked like I would be getting the promotion.
Two months later he shows up out of nowhere like nothing happened. He says ” I knew if I pretended to be hurt they would have to give you a raise”. Uuuuuh WTF!
There's so many things going through my mind I can't even make sense of it🤷️
