My employer will never pay me a decent wage

It's my first year in IT and my employer is paying 2 bucks above our city's minimum wage. The amount of studying and training you need to do this job is hilarious for the pay I get. I recently found out I am technically replacing a coworker who left for a higher paying job. The former employee had been with the company for 2 years, knew a lot in IT, and well informed on out company's products and policies; basically a real asset. Well, they didn't want to give him a raise and he found a company that would. My coworkers are cool, I like the job since it's 10 minutes from house, but holy shit, I know no matter how much I give to this company they will never pay me what I am worth. Labor will always be the least paid part of a company
